Event Details

On behalf of PSF’s friends and partners, thank you for opening up your doors on October 20 to host a local community leader. Principal for “Almost” a Day (PFAD) is an annual event that celebrates your hard work and accomplishments, as well as showcases the realities of running a school.

We recognize that hosting a PFAD participant adds to an already busy schedule – please know there are many “PFADers” who return every year to gain a better understanding of how students learn, teachers teach, and how principals lead their school communities with the resources available. One PFADer last year commented on their 2010 experience by describing how, “Every kid mattered. The principal knew everyone and set a culture of high expectations. I want to come back again.” Another PFADer noted that they “gained a greater sense of what is being accomplished with such little resources.”

PFAD helps to ensure that local leadership remains connected to and invested in supporting quality public education for all of our children and youth. We could not do this without your participation, so please know we are both grateful and humbled that you are able to join us.

Thank you for all that you do for PSF, our students, and for our entire community.

Day Begins: Morning Bell at Your School

The “start time” is up to you – some principals have guests arrive when they do before the bell rings, while others have their matches arrive in time to greet students. You can decide on arrival time with your PFAD match prior to October 20.

Lunch & Debrief with PFAD Participants and Principals:

12-1 pm, Rose Garden Arena

The PFAD discussion time is so much richer with principal participation, recognizing there are many demands on your time during the lunch hour. We hope you can join us.

Please contact Ben Furr at 503-234-5404 x18 or by email at ben@thinkschools.org for more information. A PSF staff member will be in contact with you to provide guidelines and tips for hosting a PFADer as the date approaches.
